Class Mission Statement

As part of learning about the 7 habits and how to be leaders the class worked on creating our class mission statement. This helped us practice habit 2 and "begin with the end in mind". We started by independently answering a few questions to help us start thinking. Then, we shared our ideas as a class and picked out phrases that were important to us. After that, we were able to write a rough draft and make some changes. Finally Ms. Lopez typed our completed class mission statement. You can find our mission statement outside our classroom door and on the board in our classroom.

Rough draft of mission statement

And here is what will guide our learning in 2nd grade this year!
"Our Class Mission Statement
We are going to treat each other like a family. We will not bully others and will stand up for what is right. We will always try our best and be respectful. We think school is important so we can reach our goals, go to college and get a good job. We want to be leaders using our 7 habits. We want to celebrate all our learning this year!"

At home you can work on creating a mission statement for your family or help your child create his or her own mission statement, too!
