What's the Matter?

We have started a new research science topic this week- matter. We are exploring the properties of solids, liquids and gases. In this activity we were exploring baggies filled with air, water and a tennis ball to discover some very important properties.

One question on the observation sheet was "Can you pass a craft stick through it?"

We recorded our observations on this sheet and concluded that we had explored a solid, liquid and gas!

Science Day 2011

We had a great time being scientists on Science Day! We learned a lot about pollution, optical illusions, water quality, unusual animal behaviors and veterinary science. Here are some pictures from our adventures that day!

Weather Tools Voicethread

As a culminating project for our Weather unit, the class worked in small groups with Mrs. Husketh to create a Weather Tools Voicethread. For each tool we studied there is a picture and then the students in the group described the tool, how it was made and how it helps us learn about Weather. This was a wonderful way to integrate science, writing, technology and work on our oral fluency.  After more than a week of hard work, we all watched our final project last Wednesday. We can't wait to work on some more voicethreads!  Watch and listen to our first Voicethread below; turn up your volume.
